Khrz I
Khrz I (Chris Eye) is a reggae artist from Ecuador who has been building his musical path since 2006, starting alongside his brother Mr. Rxxtz in a rap-reggae style, performing in local venues around the city of Ambato.
In 2010, together with a group of reggae-loving friends, he co-founded the band Zion Vibración, where Khrz I took the lead vocals with a roots reggae style, while Mr. Rxxtz added ragga elements. Beyond music, Khrz I was one of the founding members who, with ZV, helped organize concerts and cultural gatherings to promote reggae music and strengthen the movement in Ambato and across Ecuador. Zion Vibración performed at venues nationwide, from bars to major festivals such as Festivalffff 2012,Reggae Camp 2014, Quitu Raymi, and more — leaving a strong imprint on Ecuador’s reggae scene.
During this phase, several songs were recorded with ZV in 2014, many of which remained unreleased until 2025, when some songs were mixed and mastered by legendary engineer Jim Fox, giving new life to those early works.
At the same time, Khrz I began developing a more personal songwriting process that led him toward a solo path. In 2022, he released his debut solo album “EKILIBRIO,” which marked the beginning of a new project: INITY, launched in 2023. This album brought together collaborations with key figures from Ecuador’s reggae scene and revealed a deeper evolution in sound and lyrical vision.
In 2024, Khrz I released a cross-border collaboration with Peewee Dread from the legendary Minneapolis band Dred I Dread. Both that track and the INITY project were mixed and mastered by renowned producer E.N Young in San Diego, California.
Currently, Khrz I continues to explore the essence of roots reggae and one drop rhythms, fusing them with traditional Ecuadorian music. Inspired by the mountains of his hometown Cotaló, his life in Ambato and Quito, and his recent journey living in the calm of Iowa, USA, he is preparing new material set to be released soon — always guided by a message of unity, balance, and awareness.
